Well four months after baby 2 and I’m finally getting back into the blogging game! This post is something near and dear to my heart. Lots of small creative businesses go through change and the desire to rebrand because of that change. But, how do you know you’re ready for a rebrand? Here are my four reasons why your small creative business is ready for a rebrand.
You’ve developed a style.
I often get inquiries from people who are just creating their business and, more often than not, I steer them away from my branding experience and instead suggest they get a smaller basic branding package and website template through Showit or another site. I say this because if you are just starting off in any industry you need to gain experience and develop a style. You most likely don’t know your style when you are just starting off and you also want to learn the ins and outs of the industry you are in.
You’ve gained enough experience to know who your ideal client is and you aren’t attracting them.
It takes a lot of time and experience to not only develop your skill, but learn what kinds of clients you do and don’t want to work with. In other words, it takes a while to learn your ideal client too. Once you’ve received every and any kind of inquiry you’ll learn who you want to work with and you’ll want your inquiries to be consistent in terms of who is inquiring. You want the same type of people, in general, to inquire every time. To weed out the non-ideal clients you need to develop a brand that attracts your ideal ones.
You’ve never had a professional branding experience.
If you’ve worked hard to piece together your brand up to this point…great job! However, now that you’ve gained experience, developed your style, and learned who your ideal client is you want to create a stunning visual brand to attract ideal clients and present yourself professionally. You want to raise your prices.
If you want to raise your prices then it is ALWAYS a good time to rebrand. If you have experience under your belt and have gained credibility and exposure in your industry it’s time to raise those prices so you can work less for more money! All those months and years of taking any and every client just to get experience paid off and now it’s time to roll in the money.
