Networking is Great BUT Make Friends Too | My Love for The Rising Tide Society

December 14, 2015

Filed in: Uncategorized

I am so so thankful for meeting so many wonderful women via my Rising Tide Society group. If I had never gone to my Tuesdays Together group I would have missed out on a great networking opportunity, but more importantly, a great group of friends. Owning your own business can be lonely, especially if you are a one woman shop working from your home (which I am). Yes I have friends and get out of the house, but most of my days are spent at home doing work, taking care of my son with an occasional play date, and running errands (often in yoga pants with a mischievous child).

To say my Tuesdays Together group that meets at our leader’s beautiful home is a nice break for me is quite an understatement. It’s SO AWESOME to hang out with other creative women once a month, share some wine and light bites, and hang out talking about relevant business matters. To be able to bounce ideas off each other is awesome no matter what industry we are in, but, to me, being able to laugh and listen with other creative women is more important. I have made SO many great friends in my group and I wanted to take the time to encourage anyone reading this to ask one of your Tuesdays Together friends out for coffee or dinner sometime. It’s great to network and talk business, but I think it’s also important to not network and talk about business and just hang out. Talk about what book you are reading or what you are getting your husband for Christmas. I think it’s so easy to get so caught up in talking about business (which is great because we are all so passionate!) that sometimes we forget to talk about and invest in the people we are talking business with. I’m so thankful to have hung out with a few girls this past month just as friends. It was great!

Over the weekend I got to see some of these lovely ladies at a Christmas party (and my husband made friends too! Once he found his people he was good. I think they’re even thinking of starting a Thursdays Together football night.) and it was so fun! Happy Monday! Top image courtesy of Mrs. Fogarty’s iPhone and Mr. Fogarty’s photography skills. 😉

Thank you so much for posting this! We feel the same way. We feel so blessed to have met so many wonderful business women who we can learn from, and even more blessed to call these phenomenal ladies friends! It is such a lovely thing to be able to build together, grow together, cheer each other on, and unwind together. Tuesdays together have become my favorite thing to pencil in on my calendar. We are so excited to continue building friendships and relationships with you and the other ladies into 2016!

    Take care and Happy Holidays!
    XOXO

P.S. – “Football Thursdays Together” sounds like a great idea! My husband would be ALL about it! 🙂

  6. Thank you for posting! Made me reflect on how thankful I am for this group of women that’s becoming closer and closer each month. And I say “women” because until we have a guy return for a second meeting, I’ll continue to say “women” 🙂
