If you are a small creative business owner and have heard the hype about The Rising Tide Society, but haven’t taken the time to look into it than this post is for you.
I had heard about the Riding Tide Society and thought it sounded cool, but didn’t really look into it. I knew it was about creatives getting together and collaborating, but that was the extent of my knowledge. My friend Jackie of Beauty by Jackie D invited me to a meeting and I decided to go and I was so glad I did!
I learned the mission of The Rising Tide Society is
“educating and empowering creatives to thrive in the spirit of community over competition.”
What an awesome idea! The group was founded by Bayside Bride founders and fabulous photographers Natalie Franke and Krista Jones. One Tuesday every month local groups of The Rising Tide get together at different locations for “Tuesdays Together” meetings all across the world to discuss a topic already decided by the organization itself. First, we mingle and hang out, and then we get down to business by learning and collaborating with one another. Even though we all have different business types and backgrounds there is so much to learn! The topics are broad like “how to use instagram for your business” or “how to create a solid contract.” Every business owner can connect to both of those topics.
My local group is the Bethesda, Maryland group and it’s leader is the amazing Jamie Kutchman Wynne of Marigold & Grey, an artisan gift company. We are truly blessed by Jamie because she opens her home for us to meet. Most groups I know of meet at a local coffee shop, but being in someone’s home really takes the level of discussion, networking, and friendship to another level. I have made SO many friends and supporters from the group. It is truly amazing to connect with people I knew nothing of before, but live so close to me with the same drive and passion I have. It really helps those one woman shop blues. Let’s be real…sometimes owning your own business gets lonely! You don’t think anyone understands the struggles you go through, but connecting to a Rising Tide group will make you feel GREAT! You’ll soon realize you are not alone.
