We all want to work with the ideal clients we have in mind. You know…the ones who are willing to pay us what we are asking and love our work! Sometimes, though, it seems as if we’re attracting the wrong type of clients and we don’t know why. I feel like I’ve finally gotten to the point where I am attracting and booking the right full branding clients for me. My ideal clients are fine art wedding vendors with strong business acumen and great insight. If you aren’t working with your ideal clients yet, you could be in one of two situations:
- You don’t know how to attract the right client
- You feel like you should be attracting the right client now, but aren’t
Here are some thoughts to ponder on how to attract your ideal client regardless of which situation you’re in.
Not every small business owner takes the time to seriously think about who her ideal client is. Is your ideal client older? Younger? College-educated? Working full-time? These are just a few of many questions to ask when brainstorming your ideal client. Be as specific as possible. What does she wear? Where does she shop? How does she spend her leisure time? Write all your thoughts down so you can visualize who this person is. This will help you because once you know who you are trying to market to, you can get down to creating visuals to market to them.
Make sure your work is consistent! Potential clients want to see you have a style and specialize in something. They want to be able to distinguish your work from someone else’s. This means being consistent in your branding too. Use the same watermark on all your images. Use the same colors/fonts/logos on social media.
It doesn’t matter how beautiful your work is if you are displaying it on an unattractive or amateur looking website. Your brand needs to be on point. You need to be remembered and be professional across all boards. Take the time to invest in a great website with tailored branding. It takes money to make money and it’s so worth it because your investment will result in attracting ideal clients.
