3 Ways Pinterest is Changing My Business

March 3, 2017

Filed in: Business, Tips

Pinterest is changing the way I think about my small creative branding business and do things for my business. I never thought of Pinterest as a tool before, but after taking Melyssa Griffin’s “Pinfinite Growth” online course I am learning that it can be a HUGE tool if you know how to use it.

Pinterest can really work for ANY business, but I think especially for branding boutiques like me whose clients are definitely on Pinterest looking up ideas for their logo, website, brand board, color palette, and more.

Pinterest could be a gold mine for me if I set it up right.

three ways Pinterest is changing my business (for the good!).

  1. Finding Clients – Before I took the Pinfinite Growth course I thought of Pinterest as this giant mystery and just maybe I’d get lucky and get a couple branding clients from it by posting a brand board every now and then. But now I see how it is a search engine like Google and potential clients can find me easier if I work at it.

  2. More Blogging! – I know blogging is important to help attract ideal clients, boost SEO, and get found, but I never really thought about what to blog. Obviously I blog my work and occasionally some tips, but aside from that I didn’t really think out of the box until I had a one on one with Juli from the Garter Girl. Even after that I didn’t realize how important blogging relevant topics for my readers is. Things like “how to” articles or “list” articles (3 ways to….yada yada). Those types of articles are so important because people learn and gather useful information they want and need. It’s great for me to blog my work, but that’s not really benefitting anyone besides me. BUT blogging about “How to Boost Your SEO” benefits my readers and is most likely a very searchable phrase on Google and Pinterest.

  3. File Naming – I learned from the Garter Girl that naming your images is important because file extensions are searchable just like text. I pay even more attention to that now because those file extensions are also searchable on Pinterest. Not only that I can add “alt text” to my images before posting them in my blog and that text translates to the Pinterest image description. Name your images! For example, if I have a brand board I’m posting I may name it “branding-for-photographers-brand-board-logo-design-colors-web-design-kirstyn-marie-photography.jpg”. Crazy long right? BUT all those terms are searchable!

I’ll be posting much more on Pinterest in the coming weeks so stay tuned!
