I met Mollie Marrocco of That Bridal Blush via The Rising Tide Society. She posted about needing vendors for an upcoming beach glam styled shoot happening in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I posted I was interested and she contacted me about it and we got started! Mollie was kind enough to answer a few questions about starting her own wedding planner business and offers some advise. Thanks Mollie!
How long have you been in business?
I have truly been a lifelong wedding fanatic! I’ve been enamored with all things weddings since I was about 12 years old, and I have been a Martha Stewart Weddings and Brides Magazine subscriber since I was about 17. I was always a little too scared to jump right in follow my dreams, but over the last few years I have taken some baby steps which has brought me here. I have had my blog That Bridal Blush for over a year and recently officially started wedding planning. I’m getting ready to launch my new event planning company: Mollie Marrocco Events in the next few months!
Why did you decide to start your business?
I finally decided to start my business because I was sick of sitting on the sidelines and not doing what I felt I was “supposed” to be doing–as in what I was put on this earth for. It may sound cliche, but in my case it’s true! I’m a go-getter with everything else in my life, but for me this desire to plan weddings was so scary that I felt that it would be truly devastating to try and possibly fail. Now I look back and think, “I wasted so many years being a baby!” If only I had thrown myself into this dream years ago, I would be so much farther along. Thankfully now I am going after it, and I am so excited to see what’s ahead!
What do you love most about what you do?
I love sharing in the excitement of planning this amazing day with my incredible brides! For me, taking an idea from a bride and executing it into an actual celebration is so satisfying! I love helping my brides pick out all the little details that help to create the wedding of their dreams. I honestly just love all of it!
What goals do you have for your business?
So many goals! Short term, I can’t wait to see my rebrand come to fruition from my blog That Bridal Blush to my new company Mollie Marrocco Events. In terms of my brides, I would love to plan a destination wedding somewhere amazing! And I can’t wait to meet some more MME Brides. I only plan on taking a limited number of clients because I want to work closely with each of my brides, so I’m looking to finish booking for 2017.
What three pieces of advice can you give for new business owners?
1. Just do it! If you have a dream, follow it. Don’t be afraid, it is worth it!
2. Every once in a while you have to stop doing all the things and remember that you have friends, family, puppies, and a life, so embrace that before you burn out and run on fumes. You don’t do your best work when you’re in that state. Trust me!
3. Find a team of people to outsource the stuff you can’t do. Meet a network of creatives or other entrepreneurs the to lean on. Love them and support them. Go to your local Tuesdays Together group and join the Rising Tide Society. I am so thankful for all of these people.
How cute is this little shoot she put together!?
