Meet Alyssa Gable, owner of Lovely Bubbly Events. Rocket scientist by day (no, really) and wedding planner by night. I met Alyssa via my local Rising Tide Society group and she has been doing a wonderful job helping me plan and organize the Ribbon & Ink launch party. She is super sweet, detail oriented, and thinks of everything you forget. I asked Alyssa a few questions about starting her business and here is what she said:

How long have you been in business?

It feels like LBE has been part of me for so long, but it actually only officially launched in April 2015!
LBE has always been a dream of mine even before I knew what it was. I knew for awhile that I wanted my own business, but never had the courage to start it or even knew what I wanted it to be. After my husband and I got married in January 2015, I knew I had finally found my passion! I absolutely LOVED wedding planning and just wanted to do it again and again! A chat with my own wedding photographer inspired me to finally get started on my dream of owning my own business. I started brainstorming ideas in February right after our wedding and launched LBE in April! Since then, the wedding industry in general has pushed me to keep taking the steps I need to take to continue growing LBE. I’ve met so many amazing vendors who are so willing to build friendships with me and teach me things that would otherwise take me years to learn. Those relationships are truly what continue to make me passionate about this business.

What do you love most about what you do?
There’s something so special about being able to be a part of someone’s wedding day and seeing a couple start the next chapter of their lives together. Being a small part of that means so much to me and I take it very seriously. I love hearing a bride’s dreams, building her inspiration board, and seeing her get excited over the little details! Immediately after booking a bride, I feel like she’s one of my best friends! I also love the relationships I’m building, both with brides and vendors. This industry is filled with some of the sweetest, nicest people I’ve ever met in my life and it’s so inspiring! They inspire me creatively and personally, encouraging me to be the very best version of myself.
Since I’m new, my goals tend to change frequently as I narrow the focus of my business. At the beginning, it was just startup things like creating my website and building meaningful relationships with vendors in the industry. Now that I’m starting to book brides, I hope to really dive deep into my client experience and how I want to market myself to my ideal clients. I hope to be ready for the full branding process towards the end of 2016 🙂
What three pieces of advice can you give for new business owners?
  1. Build Relationships. There are SO many vendors in the industry willing to share knowledge and be your friend. Put together your own Facebook group of new planners/business owners and lean on each other when you’re going through a rough time. Community is key.
  2. Get Involved. Styled shoots are the #1 reason I’ve grown my business over the last several months. You don’t need to wait around for someone to ask you to plan one. Plan your own and reach out to vendors you look up to. Styled shoots are a great way to network with vendors AND build your portfolio at the same time.
  3. Serve Others. You can’t go into your new business thinking that anyone owes you anything. Go into each venture with the goal to serve others, whether those are clients or other vendors. When you’re doing work that you’re passionate about while serving your clients and colleagues well, your business is sure to thrive 🙂
